Happy Memorial Weekend, Everyone! Home of the Free, Because of the Brave! Here’s a perfect quick and easy holiday weekend dessert recipe.
On Sunday’s, I look forward to catching Ayesha Curry’s Food Network TV show, Ayesha’s Home Kitchen. Now in it’s second season, I get excited to see what delicious-ness she’ll be making. Today’s show had an overall southern flare, but it was the dessert that caught my attention the most (naturally).
I love oreos and I love red velvet…anything! So, when I heard those two things combined in a dessert, trying the Red Velvet Deep-Fried Sandwich Cookies was a must today.
This recipe is so easy, and the cookie sandwiches are OMG delicious! Hurry up and go make these π

Instructions
- In a dutch oven or medium pot, attach thermometer to the side of the pot. Pour in 2-3 inches of oil, heat on high until temperature reaches 365 degrees.
- While the oil is heating, in a bow mix together pancake mix, cocoa, powdered sugar, red food coloring and water (amount as per pancake mix direction). Whisk until combined well.
- Once oil is heated to 365 degrees, take one oreo cookie at a time and dip in the batter until fully coated. I recommend grabbing the oreo cookie on it's side as you let the excess batter drip in the bowl before dropping in the oil. If you grab from the top/bottom you may leave finger prints.
- I recommend frying 5 cookies at a time. They are ready once they puff up and are crisp, turn only once. They will only cook for 2-3 minutes total.
- Once done, immediately remove and place on a plate lined with a paper towel to drain the excess oil. Let sit for 3-5 minutes, dust with powdered sugar and enjoy!
