I am fairly new to the chia seed game, but about a couple years ago I was introduced, and I’m so glad I was. I tend to be picky and I’m very particular about texture…so basically based on those two things, I should hate chia, but actually love it!!
This makes for a healthy breakfast choice or even a great afternoon snack!
I’m not one to sprinkle it on a salad (even though it’s great for that), but what I love is soaking it and making pudding!
For this simple Chia, I took 2 cups unsweetened almond milk, a 1/2 cup of organic black chia seeds, a splash of vanilla extract, stirred/shaked, and let it sit over night.
Voila! Delicious simple chia seed pudding!
I’ve kept in a tupperware in the fridge, and in the mornings, I scoop a cup of the pudding into a bowl, drizzle with agave, and toss in some fresh fruits. SO GOOD!
If you are unfamiliar with chia, as I once was, they are fairly flavor-less, if anything, they have a nutty taste. For me this is great, because they take on the flavor of what they are soaked in and dressed with.
Chia is very high in omega-3 fatty acids, which I love because outside of avocados, I’m not a big fan of salmon and some other omega-3 rich foods.
I also find that chia help you feel fuller longer, and it’s also great for your digestive tract! All around goodness!
Try this recipe out, you’ll love it!
